Job Description:

Barreworks is seeking a Communications Director to join their management team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing company and the selected candidate will play an integral role in the expansion and development of Barreworks. This is a part-time position, commencing as soon as possible, appx. April 26th 2017.

The Communications Director will join a team of like-minded, motivated and passionate individuals and have plenty of space for creativity and self-directed work, in addition to collaborative work with the small management team [General Manager, Assistant Manager, and Owner].

Workflow fluctuates depending on season and studio happenings, but will average 25-hours/week at a starting wage of $18/hour. In-studio work is encouraged, but there is the flexibility to work from home when needed. 

Responsibilities:

 As Barreworks is a small business, the position involves a wide variety of responsibilities and the ideal candidate will enjoy working within a closely collaborative and responsive context. Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

  • Social Media/Digital Marketing:
    • Management: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Blog
    • Content Creation: photo shoots, blog posts, video shoots, partnerships/cross-promotions/creative collaborations
    • Engagement: interact and respond to all client tags/posts in a timely manner; search locations/hashtags, etc. to initiate dialogue, etc.
    • Analytics: manage, track and adjust strategy according to post engagement
    • Edit/update website
  • Advertising:
    • Design and execute advertising on Facebook/Instagram/Google, as needed
    • Occasionally design advertising for print
  • Business Partnerships and Community:
    • BarrePerk Program: acquire new partnerships, promote and maintain positive relations with current partners
    • Community Cross-Promotion: develop and execute promotions with other businesses, social contests, in-studio sampling, giveaways, etc.
    • Corporate Discounts: track leads for corporate partnerships, follow-up with contacts and establish discounts for interested groups
  • Specialty Programming and Events:
    • Feature Workshops, Special Events, Fitness Challenges, Theme Classes, Charity Classes and Promotions: write copy, communicate to staff, organize required elements/partners, execute at high standard with focus on client engagement and sense of community, promote on social networks, design posters, etc.
  • Photography/Filmography:
    • Instructor Headshots, social media and promotional content, internal videos for instructor knowledge, etc.

Requirements:

The successful applicant will be a visionary individual, capable of supporting the current programs of Barreworks, and contributing to the studio’s continued growth. The Communication Director’s priority will be to engage both current and potential clients with a sense of community, excitement and passion for health and wellness. Ideally, they will possess:

  • A certificate or degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, Social Media Marketing, and/or related field(s)
  • A strong social media portfolio – preferably of original content
  • Hands-on experience with Squarespace website hosting, InDesign, MindBody software, Google apps, Microsoft Office, and more
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, dedicated team, providing leadership, communicating a vision, and motivating staff to achieve it
  • Excellent time management skills – the ability to work effectively and efficiently under multiple deadlines and stay cool under pressure.
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends due to special events and/or upcoming deadlines.
  • A strong understanding of who we are – the Barreworks brand, aesthetic, culture – and a desire to assist in the development and expansion of the company.

Job Description:

Barreworks is seeking to expand their roster of Barre Instructors! Selected candidates will provide safe, fun and effective barre instruction to the Barreworks community. If you have a passion for health and wellness, and the drive to help others reach their goals, this is the job for you!

This position requires two modules of training:

Module 1: The Barre Certified by Barreworks program. Selected candidates will complete the program internally and receive an official Barre Certified by Barreworks certificate. Audition and written exam required for completion.

Module 2: Syllabus training in 3 class types: Mixed Level, bAAArre & DripBarre. Selected candidates will complete this portion over the course of a 3-month period. Practical exams required per syllabus.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Instructing the Barreworks syllabus at required standard
  • Learning and implementing additional notes and sequencing to set Barreworks syllabus, as required
  • Placing the safety of Barreworks clients as the utmost importance - providing modifications, corrections, etc. in all classes
  • Supporting front desk staff with client sign-in and customer service
  • Creating playlists for classes and updating on a regular basis
  • Assisting with substitute teaching, helping out the Barreworks instructor team whenever possible
  • Maintaining knowledge of studio offerings, special events, workshops, etc.
  • Remaining dedicated to the health, well-being & progress of all Barreworks clients

Requirements:

  • Attend all training sessions; missed sessions may be made up at the cost of the participant
  • Successfully complete both training modules
  • Available to instruct on either Saturday OR Sunday
  • Available to instruct at both studio locations
  • Active CPR and First Aid, prior to first class taught
  • Note: background in dance, movement or fitness is highly recommended, though not mandatory.
