What do I need to bring to class?
Aside from comfortable workout clothing, please bring your own reusable water bottle and a lock to secure your belongings in the change room (bags are not permitted in the studio). All barre classes are done barefoot, or in grip socks if preferred (available for purchase from our storefront). If you are taking a spin class, please bring your training shoes separately rather than wearing them into the studio. Equipment and complimentary towels are all provided.
What do I need to do before my first class?
Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your first class to complete our waiver, ask any questions you may have, allow us to get you acquainted with our studio and get you set up with the proper equipment for class. If you have not arrived 5 minutes before your class, we cannot guarantee entry. Late entry is strictly prohibited.
What if I have injuries?
Modifications can almost always be offered during the class to accommodate injuries. Please note any injuries or health concerns on your new client waiver and speak to your instructor prior to class. Always consult with your family physician before beginning any new exercise program.
How do I know what level or class to take?
No experience or dance background is required for our classes! We recommend first-time clients to attend BarreBasics, but it is possible to begin with any Barreworks class. We also offer private and semi-private classes, if you have any special needs or want a truly customized workout. Please note that DripBarre (high-impact cardio) is not recommended for pregnant women.
Who can take Barreworks classes?
We welcome everyone 16 years and older of all fitness levels. We currently run 6-week TeenBarre sessions for ages 12-16 at our Yonge Street location.
What makes Barreworks different from other fitness classes?
Our classes are like no other fitness class. Each session is a total body workout set to upbeat music in an energetic group setting. Proper breath with movement direction, exceptional instructor cueing and optional modifications are provided to promote safe and effective exercise. Each exercise concentrates on controlled movements that sculpt the thighs, tone and firm the buttocks, flatten the abdominals, and define the arms. Therapeutic stretching is incorporated after each intense working section to complement a total body workout.
Can I drop in for class, or is pre-registration required?
While walk-ins are welcome, we cannot guarantee you a place in class without pre-registration, as our classes have the tendency to fill up early. We strongly suggest that you pre-register and pay online in order to reserve your spot. Remember to arrive early for class even if you have signed up, as we begin to let in clients on the waitlist 5 minutes before class. To view all of our current policies, please click here
