Our first Fall Session option runs Friday, September 29th through Sunday, October 1st 2017. The second Fall Session option runs Friday, November 17th through Sunday, November 19th 2017. Each day runs from 12pm – 7pm. Note that it is mandatory participants attend every session. Late arrival / early departure is not permitted. Every session is important in your successful completion of the program.  If you miss a session for an unforeseen reason, you may do a makeup session privately with one of the master teachers at your own expense.

What prerequisites are necessary to enrol?

Participants must be 18 years of age. A background in movement, dance, yoga or fitness is extremely helpful. Foundations in functional anatomy are highly recommended. Manuals will be available for pick-up from our Queen Street location 5-days prior to the course start date.

What is required to complete certification?

To receive certification, participants must complete the following:

  1. Attend all hours listed for the in-studio portion of the course. If an emergency arises and a participant misses part of a training session, she/he must schedule a private make-up session with a Master Trainer at her/his own expense. This make-up session must be completed before the written examination (deadline for written exam specified below).
  2. Successfully pass final practical exam (video submission) within 60 days after the course completion date. In the video, participants are required to teach a sample 1 hour barre class, demonstrating excellent knowledge of the Barreworks teaching methodology, and executing the class movements and exercises with clarity and skill. If the participant is unsuccessful she/he may submit another video within 30-days of the original submission. If your first submission is unsuccessful, there will be a $50 fee for each additional exam.
  3. Successfully pass final written exam within 45 days after the course completion date. The participant must achieve no less than 80% on the written exam. If the participant is unsuccessful in the first attempt, she/he must rewrite the exam within another 30 days of the original exam date, at no charge, and successfully pass.

What can I expect during the certification course?

This course involves active learning! This means that you will be physically active during the course while putting together sequences, demonstrating and teaching others. You may be presenting both individually and within groups, giving you great opportunity for direct feedback, as well as learning from others. There will also be homework, which may involve research, certification manual review, and putting together class sequences. All above learning styles are for an optimal experience and greatest opportunity for retention and application for your future!

How do I maintain my certification?

Barreworks regularly provides creative, cutting edge Continuing Education Courses to keep you motivated and your clients dedicated and engaged. You must complete one Barreworks Continuing Education Course every year to keep your certification in good standing. Participants’ first year will begin from the last day of the in-studio course, until that date of the following year. The full course completion (in-studio hours, practical and written exam) will count as the required credits for your first year.

What happens in the case I can no longer attend?

Cancellation notice received up to, and including, 15 days prior to course start date will result in a full refund to your method of payment, minus $300 deposit. Or you may choose to defer to a future Certification Program within 1-year period, at no additional cost.
For cancellation notice received less than 15 days prior to course start date, there are no refunds or credits.
In case of course cancellation by Barreworks, there will be a full refund of all payments to date, refunded to the original form of payment, or the option to defer to a future Certification Program within 1-year.
Note that there are no refunds or credits for courses that are not completed.

Will I learn the Barreworks class syllabus?

No - even better, you will learn how to design and teach your own barre class, while utilizing the Barreworks Methodology! You will develop the skills and knowledge to do much more than teach a set class. You will learn proper sequencing, variations, how to incorporate different types of equipment, modifications for injuries, effective cueing techniques and so much more!
