The following are frequently asked questions relating to our Barre Certified by Barreworks instructor training program.

What is the cost of the program?
The cost of Barre Certified by Barreworks is $1,195 + HST. Save $100 when you register 60 days prior to session start date. Secure your spot today for just $300; full payment required 30 days prior to session start date. Student discount available - contact email@example.com with inquiries. Additional online readings are required but not included in program costs.
Is the program accredited?
Yes - Barre Certified by Barreworks is proudly a canfitpro Accredited Course, providing 4 FIS/4 PTS Credits.
Where is the program held?
The program is held at our flagship location: 625 Queen Street West, in the heart of downtown Toronto, Ontario.
When does the program start?
The winter sessions runs February 8th-10th, 2019, the spring session runs May 10th-12th, 2019 and the summer session runs July 12th - 14th, 2019. Each day runs from 12pm – 7pm. Note that it is mandatory participants attend every session. Late arrival / early departure is not permitted. Every session is important in your successful completion of the program. If you miss a session for an unforeseen reason, you may do a makeup session privately with one of the master teachers at your own expense.
What prerequisites are necessary to enrol?
Participants must be 18 years of age. A background in movement, dance, yoga or fitness is extremely helpful. Foundations in functional anatomy are highly recommended. Manuals will be available for pick-up from our Queen Street location 5-days prior to the course start date. There is also an additional pre-training component to the course. and it is recommended that participants give themselves a window of 2-hours to complete this at-home training prior to the course weekend.
What is required to complete certification?
To receive certification, participants must complete the following: Attend all hours listed for the in-studio portion of the course. If an emergency arises and a participant misses part of a training session, she/he must schedule a private make-up session with a Master Trainer at her/his own expense. This make-up session must be completed before the written examination (deadline for written exam specified below). Successfully pass final practical exam (video submission) within 60 days after the course completion date. In the video, participants are required to teach a sample 30 minute barre class, demonstrating excellent knowledge of the Barreworks teaching methodology, and executing the class movements and exercises with clarity and skill. Along with the video, participants must submit an outline for a 60 minute barre class. If the participant is unsuccessful she/he may submit another video within 30-days of the original submission. If your first submission is unsuccessful, there will be a $50 fee for each additional exam. Successfully pass final written exam within 45 days after the course completion date. The participant must achieve no less than 80% on the written exam. If the participant is unsuccessful in the first attempt, she/he must rewrite the exam within another 30 days of the original exam date, at no charge, and successfully pass.
What can I expect during the certification course?
This course involves active learning! This means that you will be physically active during the course while putting together sequences, demonstrating and teaching others. You may be presenting both individually and within groups, giving you great opportunity for direct feedback, as well as learning from others. There will also be homework, which may involve research, certification manual review, and putting together class sequences. All above learning styles are for an optimal experience and greatest opportunity for retention and application for your future!
Does my Barre Certified certificate expire?
Barreworks regularly provides creative, cutting edge Continuing Education Courses to keep you motivated and your clients dedicated and engaged. You must complete one Barreworks Continuing Education Course every year to keep your certification in good standing. Participants’ first year will begin from the last day of the in-studio course, until that date of the following year. The full course completion (in-studio hours, practical and written exam) will count as the required credits for your first year.
What happens in the case I can no longer attend?
Cancellation notice received up to, and including, 31 days prior to course start date will result in a full refund to your method of payment, minus $300 deposit. Or you may choose to defer to a future Certification Program within 1-year period, at no additional cost (only 1 deferral allowed). For cancellation notice received less than 31 days prior to course start date, there are no refunds, credits, or deferrals. For incomplete courses, there are no partial refunds, credits or deferrals. In case of course cancellation by Barreworks, there will be a full refund of all payments to date, refunded to the original form of payment, or the option to defer to a future Certification Program within 1-year (only 1 deferral allowed).
Will I learn the Barreworks class syllabus?
No - even better, you will learn how to design and teach your own barre class, while utilizing the Barreworks Methodology! You will develop the skills and knowledge to do much more than teach a set class. You will learn proper sequencing, variations, how to incorporate different types of equipment, modifications for injuries, effective cueing techniques and so much more! Can I use the Barreworks logo & class names?
No – the Barreworks logo is a registered trademark and class names are owned by Barreworks Inc. However, you may state that you are certified by Barreworks to teach barre classes.
