The following are frequently asked questions relating to our Barre Certified by Barreworks instructor training program.

What can I gain from the certification course?

This course offers a comprehensive combination of both practical and theoretical education. You will:

  • Learn our unique exercise system built on the principles of functional movement, designed to strengthen the body while developing proper posture and alignment.

  • Gain the tools to create your own safe, fun and effective barre class based on the the Barreworks methodology.

  • Develop and refine your skills for effective cueing, correcting, and demonstration, and gain a solid understanding of how to implement musicality, flow and transitions.

  • Learn how to best challenge your clients and provide effective modifications by understanding how to increase/decrease the level of difficulty of your sequences.

  • Work one-on-one with a Master Trainer (in-studio or via Skype) for 1-hour to receive personalized feedback

By becoming Certified by Barreworks, you are joining an elite team of professionals, who are providing the highest level of barre instruction in North America. You will become a part of a supportive community of barre experts and receive ongoing support. You will gain the knowledge and confidence to apply the skills you’ve learned and build a career that you love!


What prerequisites are necessary to enrol?

  • Participants must be 18 years of age.

  • A background in movement, dance, yoga or fitness is extremely helpful and foundations in functional anatomy are highly recommended. However, neither are required. A willingness to learn and grow is most important! This course is a great way to both begin or continue your journey as a fitness instructor.

  • A pre-training course involving interactive learning of functional anatomy (takes approx. 2 hours) sent out two weeks in advance of the program start date. It is mandatory that participants complete this before the certification program begins.


What is required to complete certification?

  • Attendance in every session of the certification weekend is compulsory. If you miss a session for an unforeseen reason, you may do a makeup session privately with one of the master teachers at your own expense. This make-up session must be completed before the written examination (deadline for written exam specified below).

  • A grade of 80% or higher is required for the online written exam, to be completed within 30 days from the last day of the program.

  • Participants are to submit a written 60-minute class template demonstrating excellent knowledge of the Barreworks methodology within 30-days from the last day of the program. Personalized feedback from the Master Trainers will be given following the template submission.

  • Based on the feedback received, participants are required to film and submit a 30-minute barre class taught to 2-3 individuals within 60-days from the last day of the program.

  • If the participant’s video does not meet the requirements of the guidelines provided, incorporating the Barreworks methodology, he or she will be asked to submit another video.

  • Once the participant successfully completes the above components, they will receive a certificate of completion valid for 2-years from the last day of the program.


Where is the program held?

  • The program is held at our flagship location: 625 Queen Street West, in the heart of downtown Toronto, Ontario.


What does the program schedule look like?

  • The first day of the program runs from 11:30am - 7pm, and the following days run from 12pm – 7pm. Please aim to arrive 15 minutes early each day. Late arrival / early departure is not permitted. 

  • The first day begins with an hour MixedBarre class. Please bring appropriate workout attire. 

  • Attendance to every session of the certification weekend is mandatory. If you miss a session for an unforeseen reason, you may do a makeup session privately with one of the master teachers at your own expense.


What is the cost of the program?

  • The cost of Barre Certified by Barreworks is $1,395 + HST.

  • Secure your spot today for just $300; full payment is required 30 days prior to session start date.

  • Save $100 when you register at least 60 days prior to the program start date.

  • Student discount available. Please send proof of enrollment to carman@barreworks.ca in order to qualify.


Is the certification program accredited?

  • Yes - Barre Certified by Barreworks is proudly a canfitpro Accredited Course, providing 4 FIS/4 PTS Credits.


Does my Barre Certified certificate expire?

  • Once you successfully complete the certification program, you will receive a certificate of completion valid for 2-years from the last day of the program.

  • To keep your certification active, you must complete one Barreworks Continuing Education Course (or other approved CEC) per year.


What happens in the case I can no longer attend?

Cancellation BEFORE 31 days prior to course start date:

  • You will receive a full refund to your method of payment, minus the $300 deposit. Alternatively, if you would like to defer to a future Barre Certified by Barreworks program, you may do so within a 1-year period at no additional cost. Only 1 deferral allowed.

Cancellation AFTER 31 days prior to course start date:

  • Unfortunately, there are no refunds or credits within 31 days of the program start date.

  • Alternatively, if you would like to defer to a future Barre Certified by Barreworks program, you may do so within a 1-year period for a fee of $150 + HST. Only 1 deferral allowed.

Will I learn the Barreworks class syllabus?

  • Nope! Even better, you will learn how to design and teach your own barre class, while utilizing the Barreworks Methodology.


Once certified, can I teach at Barreworks?

  • Once certified, you may audition to become a barre instructor at Barreworks. We typically hire new instructors yearly. To begin this process, please submit your resume to carman@barreworks.ca.


Can I use the Barreworks logo & class names?

  • The Barreworks logo is a registered trademark and class names are owned by Barreworks Inc, so you may NOT replicate either. However, you may state that you are Certified by Barreworks anywhere you choose to go!


Do you offer private group instructor training?

  • We are happy to accommodate private group training sessions! Please contact paul@barreworks.ca for more information.
