It’s hard to miss Nuvango Gallery & Goods Concept Store that opened at 639 Queen West. With a bright window of colourful clothing and a neon sign beckoning you to “Talk To Strangers”, we were absolutely enticed to walk in! Nuvango may seem like a new kid on the block, but they actually grew out of the Gelaskins company (coolest phone cases ever!). Nuvango is a store on the main level, selling fun tees, tanks, leggings, pillows, greeting cards, canvases and prints, and a gallery upstairs, displaying one of a kind art pieces. What do these tank tops and paintings have in common? Well, for one they are all designed by local artists, and secondly, they are all made in Toronto by Nuvango in their Junction studio.
The Nuvango studio is located right in the heart of the Junction, meaning the clothing is hand made in our backyard! Each pair of leggings is printed with the artist’s name and the name of the “artwork” on the inside label, allowing you to wear a piece of art. For every piece sold, the artist receives a commission, making Nuvango a walk-in clothing gallery. So cool! And like all galleries, pieces won’t last long. Expect new merch to make its way to shelves frequently.
The pieces are bright, bold, fun, and totally wearable. Whether it’s for bAAArre planks or birthday parties, attitude sequence or attacking your weekend, you will totally find a style that matches your personality.
